UNC-Charlotte student admits soliciting sex
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 19-year-old UNC-Charlotte student has admitted he used the Internet in an attempt to solicit sex from an undercover Louisiana state trooper posing as a 15-year-old girl.
The Advocate reports that Hugh James Passerini Jr., who was initially charged with online solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile, pleaded guilty Tuesday to indecent behavior with a juvenile.
A state judge gave Passerini a suspended five-year prison term, put him on active supervised probation for five years and ordered him to register as a sex offender.
Prosecutors say Passerini, an engineering student at UNC-Charlotte, entered an Internet chat room last July and communicated with a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl.
