Some snow could fall in the Triad tonight, though any accumulation is expected to be less than a half inch, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

There is a slight chance of snow after 5 p.m. The chance of snow increases between 8 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.

Locations west of U.S. 1 are likely to see just a dusting while areas east of U.S. will see amounts approaching one inch.

The snow could impact the morning commute on Friday.

Another blast of arctic air will hit the Triad Friday afternoon and linger over the area through the weekend. Early morning temperatures will dip into the teens with highs around 30 to 35 degrees.

To all kids reading this: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. To all government employees reading this: What are you thinking? I was amazed when I drove out this afternoon and saw that the roads here in High Point (at least the roads here at the Davidson/Guilford/Forsyth line area) had been sprayed with salt brine. You did a good job late last fall when we got a real snow event. But today, wouldn't it have made more since to only spray bridges and over-passes - just in case? As a taxpayer, I must remind you that Winter lasts for 3 months, and we are only 2 1/2 weeks into it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think today we spent a lot of money that could have been spent on something really needed.
