GREENSBORO — Police have reopened areas that had been closed to traffic following two water main breaks.

Police had been rerouting traffic because of ice on the roads caused by broken water mains.

In Greensboro, a water main broke at about 6 p.m. Tuesday near East Cone Boulevard and North Church Street. Greensboro police had closed these intersections to traffic, but they were reopened Wednesday morning:

* Elm Street and Cone Boulevard

* Church Street and Henry Street

* Church Street and 16th Street

* Cone Boulevard and Yanceyville Street.

A second water main break happened at East Wendover Avenue and Huffman Street at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

In Winston-Salem, a water main broke in the 5500 block of Silas Creek Parkway. Police had shut down northbound Silas Creek at Robinhood Road and the ramp from Robinhood onto northbound Silas Creek.
