This was unusual for me, but I went out at 5:30 a.m. on Black Friday to take advantage of a sale on a Christmas present for my husband.
The item was big, bulky and heavy, and I needed to hide it at my place of employment until Christmas.
So at 6:30 a.m., I was struggling with the heavy box on a stool with wheels to get it through our security doors without it falling off the stool. (Our hand truck was broken.)
I heard a voice behind me say, “Ma’am, can I help you?” I was surprised to see one of Greensboro’s finest behind me.
I want to say a big thank-you to officers LaToya Melvin and Matthew Sletten for their help. It made me feel safe, and I am grateful for their kindness.
I also want to thank the neighbors of my 95-year-old mother-in-law. She still lives alone and we check on her daily, but her neighbors are wonderful to her.
Allen, Faye, Jake, Vickie and Michael –– thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so blessed to have you watching out for her.
