Renee and Richard Schroeder, owners of Sweet Basil's in Greensboro, say they are on track for a soft opening next week for their new sister restaurant, Sweet Basil's and Co. (327-0023), 1310 Westover Terrace in Greensboro.
The bistro-style restaurant and wine bar will seat about 70 diners and includes heated outdoor seating. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, and the menu will feature affordable small portions, including many items from the Sweet Basil's menu.
The Schroeders have no intention of closing Sweet Basil's (632-3070; www.sweetbasilsrestaurant.com), 620 Dolley Madison Road in Greensboro, where they continue to offer a seasonal menu of locally produced and organic items.
Coffee blend honors museum
Greensborough Coffee (400 State St.) in Greensboro is offering a special blend of coffee in celebration of the opening of the International Civil Rights Museum early next year.
Woolworth's Blend Coffee is $12.79 per pound with $1 being donated to the museum through Feb. 1, the scheduled opening date for the museum.

Restaurants help nonprofit
During the month of October, 25 cents from the sale of each fruit pie at Triad McDonald's was set aside for the Ronald McDonald House in Winston-Salem.
A total of $109,000 was raised for the nonprofit organization..
The Ronald McDonald House provides lodging for families of critically ill children who are patients in Winston-Salem hospitals.
New Year's Eve dinner
Yancey House Restaurant (699 U.S. 158) in Yanceyville will hold a New Year's Eve Dinner on Dec. 31 with seatings at 5:30 and 8 p.m.
Cost for the four-course dinner is $45. Wine, beer and gratuity are not included.
