Talon Systems Inc., which makes household storage cabinets and furniture, will hire 90 workers during the next three years and invest $5.9 million to open its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Statesville, Gov. Bev Perdue announced today.

The project was made possible in part by a One North Carolina Fund grant of $46,590.

Based in Ontario, the company employs more than 150 workers and makes veneer storage cabinets, dressers, shelves, computer desks, TV stands, partitions and other products. Talon products are sold in Costco, Lowes, Ikea, Home Depot, Sears and other retail outlets in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Good News for furniture industry. Sad that it takes State dollars and a Canadian Company to open a Facility in the Former "Furniture Capital of the World". It's a good start to getting a furniture industry back to North Carolina but seems with all the Furniture Exec's laid off do to imports they could pool their resources and bring furniture production home.

3 years from now

What happens in the mean time with people out of work

And of course isn't there an election coming up around that time

3 years from now does nothing to help people from losing their homes or putting food on the table along with all the other cost to keep a roof over ones head in the present

You need to stop the bleeding now and worry abut the scar later

Just a thought

Saw a poll today, 87 % of the people think the economy should be job one!
Yet Kay Hagan and Brad Miller are focusing on health care, 59% of the people do not want.
Crap and Tax that very few want.
And making illegals legal.
However I am glad this company is coming.
