GREENSBORO – A Greensboro woman found dead in her apartment in October was attacked, severely beaten and stabbed to death, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.
Mary Ferrell Jones, 55, was found dead early Oct. 11 at her home at 317-A E.Florida St.
An investigation led to the arrest of her brother, 42-year-old Connell Ferrell, though Greensboro police did not provide a motive or cause of death after the killing. Jones and Ferrell shared the apartment, police said.
The autopsy report shows that the woman was stabbed at least twice and had numerous wounds to her body, including multiple cuts to her head. A medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a stab wound to the chest.
A 6 inch knife – believed to be the murder weapon – accompanied the woman’s body.
Ferrell was charged with first-degree murder and remains in the Guilford County jail in Greensboro without bond.
