Twelve members of the Greensboro Regional Realtors Association were honored at the association’s awards luncheon ceremony Tuesday. The annual event recognizes members for their dedication, community involvement and leadership.

• Jack H. Brown Memorial Award: Carolyn N. Banks, Yost & Little Realty. Recipients are chosen based on participation and efforts in nonindustry activities, such as charitable, civic, religious, educational or political affairs. Honorees also have a strong influence in the enhancement of the arts, athletics or recreation for public benefit.

• Ronald J. Smith President’s Award: Sharon Lankford Dameron, Keller Williams Realty. This award goes to someone who has given many hours of volunteer service to the association. The recipient is chosen by the current GRRA president.

The award honors members who have contributed consistent and outstanding service to the association.

• William D. Seawell Sr. and Jr. Award: John E. Newman, Re/Max of Greensboro. The purpose of this award is to recognize a Realtor’s efforts in fair and affordable housing. The candidate must be a Realtor in good standing; an active participant in affirmative fair housing activities, which may include workshops, seminars, speeches and written articles; and a member of the Affordable Housing Committee.

• GRRA Hall of Fame winners: Lynn Black, Yost & Little Realty. This award honors Realtors or lenders who have contributed consistent and outstanding service in the areas of development, environment or government, and leadership with enduring impact on the real estate profession.

Samuel H. Zealy Jr., Wrenn-Zealy Properties, was recognized posthumously.

• Elaine H. Ernest Visionary Leadership Award: Sandra O’Connor, Allen Tate Realtors. This award honors a member of the association or community-at-large whose ideas, research, actions and leadership have created a positive impact in the Guilford County development community.

• GRRA Public Service Award: Robbie Perkins, NAI Piedmont Triad. Individuals who receive this award provide service to the real estate industry, the association and the Guilford County community at large.

The winners were not revealed to the public until Tuesday, but the GRRA arranged for members of their families to be in attendance to celebrate their accomplishments. Betty Smith led her final association luncheon as GRRA president. Bill Guill will serve as president in 2010, and Kathleen Sullivan will serve as president-elect in 2011.
