BEAUMONT, Texas -- Justin Nabors finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Anthony Miles hit two free throws in the closing seconds to lift Lamar to a 74-73 victory over N.C. A&T on Saturday.

Miles finished with 15 points, including the final nine for the Cardinals (3-4), who rallied after trailing 65-57 with 7:50 to go. Charlie Harper added 14 points and 15 rebounds.

"I am really just disappointed,'' said N.C. A&T coach Jerry Eaves. "We had an excellent chance to win on the road, but we just didn't close them out. As the season progresses, we're going to have to learn how to close people out on the road. You have to be 10 points better on the road because it's tough to win close games away from home."

Tavarus Alston led the Aggies (3-5) with 24 points. Dwane Joshua added 21 pointson 6-of-12 shooting from the field. Joshua made 5 of 6 from 3-point range and 1 of 6 from inside the arc.

After hitting a jumper and a layup, Miles connected on a 3-pointer with 1:12 remaining to pull Lamar to within 73-72. A foul by Alston with 10 seconds to go sent Miles to the free-throw line, where he scored the game's final points.

A&T had one more attempt after a time out, but Tavarus Alston's 15-footer was short and time expired.

The Aggies started to make their outside shots during a six-minute stretch in the middle of the second period that allowed them to open up an eight-point advantage. N.C. A&T was 11-for-25 on 3-pointers.
