College women: UNC's Lucas happy at home

NO. 4 NORTH CAROLINA 76, UNLV 68: Italee Lucas made a triumphant return home to Las Vegas. She scored 24 points to help No. 4 North Carolina beat UNLV 78-68 on Sunday.

Lucas scored seven of the Tar Heels' first 11 points during the second half. Then, after missing two free throws with 1:19 left, the junior scored off her own offensive rebound to give North Carolina a 74-66 lead.

"I'm just really excited that it was in front of my fans and my family," said Lucas. "They got a chance to see me on (something) other than TV."

MOREHEAD STATE 68, WINSTON-SALEM STATE 45: The Rams (2-3) were led by Rene Rector and Porsche Harrell, who each had 10 points.

GARDNER-WEBB 66, N.C. CENTRAL 55: Sandra Vaitkute led the Bulldogs (3-1) with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Joanna Miller led N.C. Central (0-4) with 22 points.

RANDOLPH 68, N.C. WESLEYAN 65: Lindsay Cross of Asheboro had a career-high 26 points for Randolph (1-2).

NO. 6 TENNESSEE 77, NO. 12 VIRGINIA 63: Angie Bjorklund scored 24 points and hit the big shots when Tennessee needed them.

NO. 13 FLORIDA STATE 66, GEORGIA STATE 53: FSU's Jacinta Monroe scored 14 points before twisting her left knee.

NO. 25 MISSISSIPPI STATE 84, MARYLAND 55: Alexis Rack scored a career-high 43 points and led a defensive effort that forced 28 turnovers.
