Why Ragsdale won: Having just endured their most even first half of the season, Tommy Norwood didn’t even have to pull out a rah-rah speech for his players in the locker room.
“They were very determined. They challenged each other to step up,” Norwood said. “There was no hollering, no screaming. They just looked at each other like, let’s go out and play. That’s the nice thing about having a veteran group. They know they can play better.”
The Tigers, who surrendered as many points in the first half as they had in their previous seven games combined, tightened up on defense and used a pair of third-quarter tochdown runs by D'onovan Smith to reassume control.
Ragsdale improved to 13-0 and will be on the road at Dudley next Friday.
“I don’t think you ever get used to them,” Norwood said. “You work too hard not to appreciate each one.”
Records: Ragsdale 13-0; Sun Valley 9-4
