I would like to tell you about a small group of people with big hearts: the congregation at Glenwood Presbyterian Church.
Recently, one of our members suffered several huge setbacks. Although we haven’t seen her in recent years, her teenage daughter faithfully attends and helps out where she can.
The family’s situation was first brought to our attention at prayer time in the Adult Sunday School class, which consists of about 15 to 20 regulars. After deciding that we needed to take immediate action, the offering plate was passed around the group for the second time (the first being our regular offering), and collected $200, which was enough to get the power turned back on at her home.
Some members also helped out by donating home basics.
Our church has participated every year in the CROP Walk for Hunger. This year, although we only had eight walkers, we raised more than $1,400! Our members have such generous hearts!
One more example of the big hearts at Glenwood is the congregation’s response to Operation Christmas Child. Our average attendance at 11 a.m. worship is about 40 people, yet we collected more that 50 “shoebox gifts” to send to Samaritan’s Purse.
I am happy to be a member of Glenwood Presbyterian Church, where the love of God is reaching others through these wonderful, caring people!
