Obama stimulus plan lacking accountability

Saturday, November 21, 2009
(Updated 3:00 am)

The government Web site, Recovery.gov, is designed to track jobs saved or created by the $787 billion Obama stimulus.

The site reports jobs as saved or created in congressional districts, such as 30 jobs in Arizona’s 15th District. One problem, Arizona has no 15th District. Nor do other states have some districts listed where hundreds of millions were supposedly spent.

Before the naysayers believe this must be right-wing talking points, this was aired on World News with Charlie Gibson Nov. 16. Even the mainstream media are waking up.

If this administration cannot accurately track which congressional districts exist and where the stimulus money is going, why do some think it can efficiently manage the nation’s health care system? Why do some think they can create “green jobs” by taxing industry, thus raising the cost of energy? Why do some think they can move 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to New York City, spend tens of millions and successfully prosecute him?

I explained the concept of massive government debt to my young son. When he asked who was going to pay, I told him he and his yet-to-be-born children and grandchildren. Quoting John McCain, I told him it is “generational theft.”

Did you also tell your young son that the government is trying to make healthcare affordable for all Americans, including you and him? Did you tell him the government debt stems from past presidents and congresses as well as the sitting ones? Did you tell him the only way to make sure the master-mind of 9/11 is found guilty is to put him on trial where the crime was committed? Did you tell him one of the reason it is costing the taxpayers so much money to clean up our earth for his generation is because of the relaxing of standards by the Bush administrations for industries? Did you also explain that foreign countries do not protect their citizens from hazardous substances, much less the earth?

If you have been totally honest with your young son, rather than feed him a steady diet of the usual distortions and indoctrination techniques of the repub party, you are to be commended. If, however, you are simply feeding him the same stuff you posted, you are truly doing him a disservice.

"Did you tell him the only way to make sure the mastermind of 9/11 is found guilty is to put him on trial where the crime was committed?" Pay attention, Yvonne. KSM had already entered a guilty plea and asked to be executed before the insane idea of trying him in NYC even came up. All we had to do was take him out and shoot him. That's all. Now we will spend millions of dollars, drag it out for years, and regardless of the outcome, we won't be able to find him any more guilty than he was willing to be months ago. And you call that a good use of taxpayer money? Millions of dollars versus the cost of a single bullet? No wonder you support Obozo. This isn't about KSM, it's about George Bush and the CIA.

"This isn't about KSM, it's about George Bush and the CIA."

BINGO!! But it's going to cost untold sums of money in security neither the govt. nor NYC has. Obama said this week that KSM would be found guilty and put to death. Talk about a fair trial. Holder said in the rare event that KSM wasn't found guilty he would not remain in the United States. That's reassuring, send him back to the jihad.

Remember the first order signed by President Obama? Close Gitmo in one year. Well he admitted this week it isn't gonna happen. Yet another broken promise.

The trial will provide a platform and a megaphone for radical Islam. This unnecessary trial (as opposed to military tribunal and a guilty plea) cannot exclude Muslims and only one is required for a hung jury-- they'll get to do it over again. It is matchless judicial irresponsibility. Holder should go back to being a bag man for buying pardons.

Mr. No name strikes again.
He is now a security and legal expert.
Right up there with the cabinet installer.

Don't pick on JGALT David. In all the years on this blog I've never seen anyone so obsessed with a name, or lack thereof.

Hey David, do you agree that the president of the US should openly predict the verdict of a legal case and the sentence before the trial begins? I'd like your legal opinion please.

dcolin

November 21, 2009 - 10:09 pm EST

I'm not qualified to have a legal opinion.
Obviously you are.

However the prosecution certainly can have a legal opinion.
Prosecutors usually say, we will prosecute, will win and will punish.

Is the persecution not part of the executive branch.

No?

Much uninhibited political opinion was published in papers and pamphlets, the blogs of their time, under the names Publius, Cato, Brutus, Centinel, Candidus etc. Resumes and identities were not questioned or important. The quality of the argument was the point.

Good point JGALT, some here obsess with race, others with the evil Bush, others with the goodness of Obama. David has chosen a different obsession, the fact that I don't use my real name. Go figure.....truman transformed into zeus80 to xeno10 all in the matter of months yet not problemo with David on that, he seems focused on me for some reason.

dcolin

Well lets see.

Your ashamed of what you do.
Ashamed of your education.
Ashamed of the product you represent
Ashamed of your government/Commander in chief in time of war ( how patriotic )

But we should listen to you.

I think not.

danagain

November 21, 2009 - 11:02 pm EST

You should be ashamed of yourself. Chat with the Mrs. and discuss why you are obsessed with someone on the N&R blog, you'll feel better.

Meanwhile, ask truman why he has changed his name 3X this year.

You need some help, I hope you get it.

dcolin

November 21, 2009 - 11:48 pm EST

What has Truman got to do with this.
We are talking about you.

If you want to know about Truman you ask him.

I've figured out what that secret device is that Dan peddles.

It's an aphrodisiac that arouses liberals and draws them to him like flies. Sort of a 'spanish fly' potion that attracts tingly legged Obama voters like flies to honey...right, Dan?

Odd that those who call people 'stupid' are the ones clamoring for government to nurture them and pass the bill on to their kids.

"I've figured out what that secret device is that Dan peddles."

Your right he is a peddler.

He is a peddler who is ashamed of his product.

Go figure

You got it Neo, that's why I like this blog. It's fun with my product to watch liberals like David Colin psychoanalyze people they don't even know on the blog. If there is a Mrs. Colin she ought to be concerned.

Maybe I should run ads like that video professor guy; "Try my product" to attract even more.

"Mrs. Colin she ought to be concerned."

Careful now

danagain

David Colin for some reason is obsessed with what product I sell Yvonne. I could care less what he does/did for a living.

There is a difference, David Colin doesn't have the power to bankrupt the country.

Snake Oil.

If not he would say what it was.

Surely it's advertised.

You have to be consistent dan

I am supose to be the old guy with dementia not you.

Maybe you forgot what the product is?

Work that angle.

Mr. danagain,
You must have skipped history and Civics class. It shows.

danagain

November 21, 2009 - 6:49 pm EST

I see rightwinger, you are a civics expert.

Here is the Obama quote rightwinger:

"those offended by the legal privileges given to Mohammed by virtue of getting a civilian trial rather than a military tribunal won't find it offensive at all when he's convicted and when the death penalty is applied to him."

Which civics class did you attend? I went to the one that had that phrase.......oh what was it.....hmmmm......oh yeah.....innocent until proven guilty. So instead of launching your usual petty insults can you answer the question please? Should the POTUS openly predict the verdict of a legal case and the sentence before the trial begins?

I thought the point of this was to show the world how our justice system works. Some example from POTUS, he's already condemned the guy to death in front of the world.

I support reason and intelligence, Sawdust, both of which you seem to ignore. Politically the trial must happen. I agree it would be better financially to just blow his brains out. However, that is not the law nor the wise thing to do. Think, man, think.

Rollo

November 21, 2009 - 11:56 am EST

Politically the trial must happen? I disagree. There's nothing wrong with a military trial. This is just another leftist dog and pony show. It will do nothing to change the world's opinion of us.
