Health care rationing might be in the cards

Saturday, November 21, 2009
(Updated 3:00 am)

A sign of things to come is health care rationing. While women have been encouraged for years to get early testing to catch breast cancer in the early stages, a government panel has decided that women do not need to get mammograms at age 40.

And, that it’s not only OK to wait until age 50, but that neither  annual testing nor self-breast examination is necessary.

Even though the United States has the highest breast cancer survival rate, this is clearly a signal of what we can expect from “government option” health care  —  that lifesaving screening isn’t worth the cost.

The H1N1 vaccine is another example of rationing by limiting dosages for targeted recipients. Women now are being targeted before the bill passes.

Wake up, America. This is not about better health care but rather government control over our most personal decisions.
Everyone will be forced to pay for less service and no choice. Call our senators and ask them to vote “no” to the government option in any form.

To LTTE writers Mary Allen, Tom Ibus, and Valerie White: Test after test shows that Americans as a people have little knowledge of basic facts in subjects such as geography, math, civics, et cetera. So, do we expect all folks to understand "health care reform" proposals? It's much easier for some to become ignorant morans and just say "everthing that government does is wrong!" And, apparently, being bludgeoned in the head for eight straight years of "right-wing Republicanism" has left a mark on a few ignorant morons living in Mebane, Browns Summit, and Asheboro! Maybe? Seriously.

You are a shining example of that truman. So are many others who are products of some govt. schools.

Curious Dan, where were you educated?

Where you been Sir Firefly? I was educated in the public schools and well on my way to becoming a full fledged liberal until I had the experience of living and studying in a socialist country. That experience and Ronald Reagan turned me around.

Educated? Come on

You dropped out in the fourth grade.
You told me.

I've been doing my patriotic duty of raising productivity in this country by working crazy hours (for the same pay), thanks for asking.

Well now that you are once again living in a socialist country maybe we can win you back (;-})

Dan,

Unrelated to this thread, here’s the answer to the question you asked last week:

An established patient level 3 visit (the most commonly coded one) would reimburse the following:
Cash-paying patient: $80
Medicare: $59
Medicaid: $53
BCBS: $75

JGALT

November 21, 2009 - 9:05 am EST

That sums it up.

J D R

November 21, 2009 - 3:50 pm EST

... so you shop a Walmart to achieve Everday Low Prices .. but when some-one else is paying (BCBS), you let them pay ... them being BCBS being your employer (most likely) or them being your neighbor (if you are retired and purchasing suplimental insurance)

Huck - how many pay Cash? Why would they?

danagain

November 21, 2009 - 1:59 pm EST

Thanks Dr. Huck, that does sum it up. So if docs like yourself get more insured on the public option with similar reimbursement rates as Medicare and Medicaid you're screwed. But most won't care, after all the common notion is that docs are overpaid.

Nobody said they were over paid.

I have never met one who is starving or unemployed
You made up over paid.

Huck

Find another line of work.
Or stop whining.

I have never I repeat never known a starving MD

huck

November 21, 2009 - 5:40 pm EST

Not quite sure what your problem is, dcolin. I never said I was starving nor underpaid. I was only answering a question posed by dan. The only thing I’m “whining” about is the democrats’ attempt at “reform”. I feel it’s the wrong way to approach the problem, so I’m voicing my opinion.

dcolin

ok.

Sorry I misunderstood

I just grouped you with dan and the others

Medicare: $59
Medicaid: $53

Why do you take them.

Just stop.

I went to public/government schools.
I never dropped out.
I'm a hell of a lot better educated than you.

I know because you won't tell me what your education is.

Colin - as far as I know Dan went to a Greensboro college and then transfered his last couple years to get that Carolina Blue Sheepskin. As far as I know Daddy paid for it all .. As far as I know Daddy help set Dan up in business (al least gave him the contacts .. not what but who ya know stuff .. ).

I like Dan .. he's a bit like Palin who with pride admitted in her book being a recipient of Title IX advantage .. this is Ms. "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' " .. terrifying of course unless it is you being helped.

Thanks JDR, seems Mr. Colin is obsessed with my real name, my education and my job.

I told him once I dropped out of fourth grade and apparently he believed it.

You did pretty well, I went to UNC-G for two years, transferred to UNC-CH and spent my senior year in Europe. Yep, my parents (Daddy) paid for my college education, along with my siblings. I guess the is to be frowned upon eh? The fact that my parents actually provided for their children. BTW, the dollar was very valuable at the time so the tuition, etc. in Europe was around the same as at home. Can't say that these days.

I did work for dad for awhile, although he wasn't my boss. I then went on to start my own company with only help from my wife as she was the primary bread winner until I built up the business. No help from "Daddy" on that one. And 11 years later the business has been very successful. There is one company I represent and I've been their top distributor nationwide for 7 years straight. No help from Daddy on that one.

What did you study

"Thanks JDR, seems Mr. Colin is obsessed with my real name, my education and my job."

I'm trying to confirm some credentials for your opinions.

What did you study?
Be proud of it.

Hell you keep telling us how stupid we all are.
Lets confirm your credentials

I think you just told us you are a salesman.
What do you sell?

Again be proud of it.

No problem with your parents paying for school.
Thats how I went

"I'm trying to confirm some credentials for your opinions."

yabbit opinions dont need credentials .. they are opinions.

My bitch is certain opinions without factual basis - for example you can like or dislike a band - that requires nothing but personal opinion. If you can like or dislike Ronnie Reagan as as a person - that' OK too, but if you like or dislike Ronnie Reagan as President, imho you really ought to have some factual basis for that opinion.

Like Ronnie Reagan for Fiscal Responsibility? You're living in a dream land; check the debt and deficit records.
Like Ronnie Reagan for holding the size of governement? He did a good job there.
Like Ronnie Reagan for Bringing Down the Wall?? You're dreaming again .. and if you doubt that, please show specifically what the Soviets did in reaction to Ronnie's sending spree .. cause this it the classic claim: they went broke trying to keep up with Ronnie .. baloney.

I can go on, but the point ... in my opinion ... has been made.

"There is one company I represent and I've been their top distributor nationwide for 7 years straight."

You are great.
You probably got awards.

Aren't you proud.?

I thought you were a consultant.
Your a distributor?
Salesman?

For all I know your an Insurance executive.

Be a man.
What education/What do you sell.

Or Zip it

danagain

You are too funny David. I studied business and foreign languages. Yes I do sell, but I also train people how to use the products I sell as you cannot get these products out of the box and start using them. I also consult them when needed.

And yes I did get some awards, just 7 plaques with "top distributor" engraved upon them. Good enough for me.

Glad to see your parents provided for your college education too. That does seem to be frowned upon these days. My parents made a deal with me and my siblings----Parents: we pay your tuition and room/board. You make good grades and the payments will continue. You screw around and make bad grades then no more payments will arrive. You want a car or money to party or travel then get an extra job and pay for it yourself. This offer is limited to an undergraduate degree only, you want a post graduate degree then you are 100% on your own. Sounded fair to me. All of us graduated from college.

BTW, what are your credentials for your opinions? I didn't know we had to have certain credentials on this blog to offer an opinion.

Kinda reminds me of arguments in the past like men cannot comment on abortion or those who have not served in the military cannot comment on anything regarding the military.

I look forward to reading about your credentials.

"Kinda reminds me of arguments in the past like men cannot comment on abortion or those who have not served in the military cannot comment on anything regarding the military."
I never said that. Don't put words in my mouth.
Thats BS I never said you could not have an opinion.
Just want to decide how I will evaluate it.

What product do you sell/consult on.
What is your degree?

"I look forward to reading about your credentials."

What do you want to know.
