Davidson man beaten with bat, wood, rifle stock

DENTON — Four people were charged with an assault after an incident Tuesday at a local home.

The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said James Donald Graves Jr. was attacked by family members when he tried to retrieve his son from his father's house at 333 Turkey Trail.

Graves was treated at Thomasville Medical Center for a concussion and cuts on the front and back of his head.

Deputies said Graves was hit with a metal baseball bat, a wooden stick, a rifle stock and a piece of wood.

Four people were charged with assault with a deadly weapon:

* James Donald Graves Sr., 58, of 333 Turkey Trail. Graves Sr. also was charged with communicating threats. His bond is $1,000.

* Debora Ann Graves, 34, of 395 Turkey Trail. her bond is $25,000.

* Jared Keith Owens of 1855 Lick Creek Church Road. His bond is $1,000.

* Amber Renee Graves of 395 Turkey Trail. Her bond is $1,000.

All four were arrested without incident Thursday. The sheriff's office did not say what prompted the attack.
