GREENSBORO — The chief financial officer of Moses Cone Health System is leaving to become executive vice president and chief financial officer of Wellmont Health System in Kingsport, Tenn.
Beth Ward joined Moses Cone in 1996 as corporate controller and became chief financial officer in 2001.
Cone has not yet found her replacement.
Tim Rice, Cone's president and CEO, said Ward helped cut capital spending and make other financial adjustments to help the hospital ride out recent economic turmoil without layoffs or furloughs.
Ward also was involved in mergers with Wesley Long Community Hospital and LeBauer HealthCare in Greensboro and Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.
