Authorities believe that human remains found Tuesday in a wooded area at 4108 Hicone Road are that of a man reported missing in 2004.

A survey crew found the remains Tuesday in Guilford County.

The sheriff’s office received help from the UNCG anthropology department in recovering the remains. The team determined that the remains were of a black man who suffered from severe arthritis.

Through that information and other evidence, investigators tentatively identified the man as Henry Wilson.

Wilson was last seen at the bus station in downtown Greensboro in December 2004. Clothing that Wilson was seen wearing then was similar to clothing found with the body, according to a news release.

Authorities did not release a cause of death.

The sheriff’s office has notified a family member, who will assist in the final identification process through DNA.

Wilson, who was born in 1921, had Alzheimer's disease and possibly was headed to Danville, Va., when he disappeared on Dec. 19, 2004, according to a 2006 article in the News & Record.
