Greensboro shooting victim upgraded to stable

GREENSBORO – A man shot Tuesday afternoon at a Phillips Avenue convenience store has been upgraded to stable condition, according to police.

Kevin Eric Fikes Jr. was originally in critical condition at Moses Cone Hospital after being shot about 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Kim’s Mart at 2200 Phillips Ave.

Police said Fikes was arguing with several other men in the area when the shooting occurred.

A person of interest was interviewed in the case Tuesday night, though no charges have been filed, said Lt. Dennis Willoughby with Greensboro police.

Fikes’ age and address have not been released by police.
