Want To Go?

What: A public meeting to discuss the proposal to cut the number of autism classroom wings from three to two and increase the size of the two wings.

The three wings were approved as part of the 2008 school construction bond. The classrooms were originally planned for Ragsdale High and the yet-to-be built airport area high school and southeast area elementary school. The new proposal recommends building the classrooms at Ragsdale High and an undetermined location.

The plan originally called for 48 students at each wing. Under the recommended plan the wings would house 120 students.

Most students with disabilities are served in traditional schools, either in general education or in self contained classrooms. The autism classroom wings were designed to service severely affected students.

When: Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Where: Department of Exceptional Children, 120 Franklin Blvd., Greensboro.
