House vote gives hope to struggling Americans

Thanks to Rep. Mel Watt for casting his vote for health coverage for all Americans. Many people do not have the benefit of health care, even though they work two or more part-time jobs. This prevents a friend of mine from filling an expensive high-blood-pressure medication prescription. The cost of insurance was so expensive for my friends, they let it go.

Personally, I am in the process of appealing a claim that was denied because the insurance company said I’d been treated for the condition this year. That is totally false.

My cousin has told me her insurance company wants her to change the doctors who have taken care of her for years because they are no longer in their network.

So, I appeal to our representatives and senators to vote with the people who voted for you. Remember, your health care is government-sponsored with our tax dollars. Allow us the opportunity to have a similar package.

Your friend needs to shop around. With a free prescription card from RiteAid, I am able to get a current blood pressure medicine for $4 per month without using any health insurance plan. A lot of the problems are with the consumer, not the health insurance industry. Do you shop for your food, automobiles, etc. It is the same approach. Become an active consumer not a drone in the system.
