Even insured struggle

To our elected officials:

Nov. 7 was a historic day and a giant step toward the health care reform so urgently needed in this country. To those of you who voted for this, I applaud you. As for those who voted against it, we, the people, will not forget. You will have another opportunity to vote for this reform once the Senate has voted on its version.

I am a registered nurse, and it is heart-wrenching to see so many people delaying, or putting off entirely, medical care due to the cost. This applies not just to people without insurance, but with insurance as well. The insurance companies are getting higher premiums and paying out less.

We are seeing sicker patients due to the lack of regular medical care. We must stop this insanity now!

11/17 LTTE writers, Ms. Bishop, Ms. Bowie, Ms. Lee, and Dr. Greene: Americans have been waiting a long time for health care reform, and these days, one has to be really seriously interested in "what's really going on" in order to fight one's way through the blizzard of lies, half-truths, sophistries, deliberate distractions, et cetera, that the tea-bagging, crazy right-wing Republican noise machine produces everyday on this site, and in the chambers of the U.S. Congress! So I applaud Democrats (especially Miller and Watt) that vote FOR reform! And I strongly suspect that many Republican lawmakers (?) in 2010 will struggle to explain their opposition to the legislation! Seriously.
