Burlington mayor appointed to state transit board

BURLINGTON — The city's mayor has been appointed to the state Board of Transportation.

Gov. Bev Perdue announced the appointment of Ronnie Wall and three others today.

Wall is mayor of Burlington and assistant superintendent for auxiliary services in the Alamance-Burlington School System. He is a graduate of N.C. A&T.

The other appointees are David Burns of Laurinburg, Gary Ciccone of Fayetteville and Sam Halsey of Jefferson. Stan White of Nags Head was reappointed to the board.

The board manages the Highway Trust Fund enacted by the legislature and the Federal ISTEA program. The board has 19 members, and each serves a four-year term. The governor appoints all members.
