Good Stuff: Special Christmas present remembered

For several years, my wife and I, along with some friends, traveled to Boone the day after Thanksgiving to choose and cut a live Christmas tree.

This particular year, we were unable to go because I was confined to a wheelchair after having two surgeries on my foot.

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, a couple of weeks before Christmas, we received a wonderful surprise. Our neighbors brought us a beautiful live tree, put it in a stand and set it up in our living room.

Thanks to their kindness, we had our tree for that year. Thank you so much Steve and Becky Wilson of Pleasant Garden.

You will forever be our Christmas tree angels.

Last week, my son and I went out for breakfast at Jake’s Diner prior to a doctor’s appointment.

With our busy schedules, I don’t have the opportunity to spend very much one-on-one time with him, so I was quite happy to be out with him.

We were just beginning to enjoy our food when our waitress came to the table and told us our ticket had been paid.

She explained that another man had seen us and thought that it was great to see a mother and son out together and decided to buy us breakfast.

The gentleman had already left, so I could not thank him personally, but he made our day. Thank you, sir!
