Democrats earn praise for health care bill vote

Monday, November 16, 2009
(Updated 3:00 am)

My wife and I are registered independents and look forward to learning more about the health care reform just passed by the House. Thank you, Democrats!

For too long, the insurance business has profited from our payments and shortchanging us on our benefits. Yes, they tout good coverage, but you really don’t know what the insurance companies will pay when the bills come. Maybe the CEOs and CFOs and other insurance executives will now live in the real world with much less in executive pay

For those folks not voting for the health care reform bill, you’re on your own when the next election takes place. When Medicare was originally proposed and passed in the LBJ administration, the Republicans were against that as well.

Again, thank you, Democrats, for standing for the people and not the insurance business and their lobbyists.

Translation: "Thank you, Democrats, for passing a bill that I haven't had a chance to learn much about."

You may not be quite so happy about it once you find out the cost and how well it actually works.
As far as Medicare it was wrong in 1965 and is still wrong today and will be even worse tomorrow..
As far as folks voting for or against the bill, they will learn how their vote counted next election, maybe.
American voters have a poor habit of forgetting much too quickley sometimes.

Get back to us in a year or so. We'll see if you're still so thankful.

$89.3 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities of Medicare and Medicaid is not "from the last 40 years" as one prolific poster has wrongly offered. It is the difference going forward of what has been promised and what is forecast to be collected.

"It is the difference going forward of what has been promised and what is forecast to be collected."

Great, I'll use that line on my morgage company, as my pay continues to go down.

Yeah, right.

It's very possible that they are registered independents. I bet I can count on one hand the number of Repubs they've voted for in the last 2 elections, though.

Enjoy your "Obama money" while it lasts--and don't whine when the cash cow goes dry.

Don't worry, there is more "Obama money" from his "stash". The woman in Detroit said so.
