Caldwell students paid touching tribute to vets

I just returned from the Caldwell Academy Veterans Day Program and wanted to thank Mark Guthrie, the head of the school, as well as the faculty, staff and all of the students for the outstanding program they put on for veterans.

The youngest students made us cards thanking us for serving.  Older students did everything, from escorting us under umbrellas from our cars to the building, to showing us where to sit, to bringing us breakfast and coffee, to showing us to the classrooms and asking questions about our military experience.

Also thank you, Congressman Howard Coble, for taking the time to speak to us. I also want to thank Sasha Williamson and Sarah, two of my granddaughters, for asking me to this exceptional Veterans Day program.

It was our honor to serve you all and to hear your stories. Our children look forward to Veteran's Day each year, as meeting you veterans is better than a day off from school! We thank you for coming out in the weather to let us honor you.

Caldwell Academy is a class act, no doubt about it.
