N.C. State basketball capsule

Thursday, November 12, 2009
(Updated Wednesday, November 25 - 1:31 pm)

Coach: Sidney Lowe (51-46 in three seasons, all at N.C. State)

Home court: RBC Center (19,700), Raleigh

2008-09: 16-14 overall, 6-10 ACC (10th)

Tickets: For single-game prices, call (919) 865-1510 or visit gopack.com

Local radio: WSJS-600, WSML-1200, WKXR-1260

Official team Web site: gopack.com

Projection: The three top scorers from last season’s team are gone, and the Wolfpack is rebuilding with youth. State had a revolving door at point guard last season — Javier Gonzalez, Farnold Degand and Julius Mays all started games — and needs someone to step up and claim the job. Tracy Smith emerged as a low-post scorer, and he can expect lots of double-teams this season. The final record will depend on the five freshmen. If they’re as good as advertised, N.C. State could win 18 or 19 games and get back to the postseason. If they fail, the Pack could fall below .500.
