Lorraine Ahearn’s feature on the free dental clinic, Nov. 7, was a welcomed highlight, but was inadequate in its attributions. Not only were members of First Presbyterian Church and volunteer dentists of the N.C. Dental Society’s Missions of Mercy involved, but also the Moses Cone Health System and its congregational nurses were co-partners and sponsors of this remarkable two-day event.
For its size (40 dental chairs), it was the most successful clinic in the six-year history of the program — more than $215,000 in dental services donated to 775 patients from the Triad and across the state. People in pain, in need and in distress were served by those who care. There’s something special about where we live.
