Wednesday's traffic issues

Wednesday, November 11, 2009
(Updated 10:51 am)

Current problems:

Three of four lanes on southbound Interstate 40/85 at Mile Marker 139 (between University Drive and Elon and the state rest are) are blocked. Emergency personnel are responding to a report of a tree that fell on a vehicle at 10:10 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Past problems:

Lee's Chapel Road at Yanceyville Street — tree down in the road

U.S. 29 southbound near East Wendover — storm drain has been unclogged and all lanes are open

Emergency officials advise motorists not to drive through standing water and not to drive around police barricades. Rising water can swamp a vehicle quickly. If you're caught in rising water, abandon your vehicle as soon as you can and seek higher ground.
