WHITSETT — A coin toss has determined who won the seat on the Town Council for which two candidates tied.

A Guilford County Board of Elections official tossed a coin today and announced Lee "Monk" Greeson the winner. Greeson and incumbent Ken Jacobs both received 42 votes in the election.

"It was pretty neat," said Ann Greeson, the winner's wife. "We've been joking about it all week ... that only he would have a coin-toss election."

A Board of Elections official told them there hadn't been a tie in the county for at least 22 years.
