I would like to thank the motorists and emergency personnel who helped save my wife from the horrific accident that happened on Interstate 40 on Tuesday morning, Nov. 3. She was blessed to have survived this accident and is appreciative of all the people who helped and prayed for her well-being.
I cannot express my gratitude enough to Jamie, who called me from the accident; Anthony Scott, who pulled her from the wreckage; and Nellie Brown, who prayed with her on the side of the road while waiting for the emergency crews.
I also thank the two EMT personnel who transferred her to the hospital, the Colfax Fire Department, the Greensboro Police Department, and countless others who took the time to help her.
May God continue to bless all of you and your families.

I teach Spanish at Allen Middle School in Greensboro, and this month we are celebrating the Viking value of caring.
I have children in my class who display this value daily, and they do it voluntarily. Because I have four special children, it takes more time to explain things to them, and that’s where my student volunteers come in.
They help me out by sitting next to them, helping them learn and making sure they follow my instructions.
Sometimes, we forget that love and empathy start at a young age. My sixth-graders are awesome, and I try to reward them every day with words of encouragement.
I also have eighth-grade and seventh-grade classes that are collecting canned goods to make Thanksgiving baskets for three needy families in our school. They are looking forward to turning them in to the school counselor to be distributed according to their need.
