GREENSBORO — A man was charged Monday in the fatal shooting of a man found in a pickup in the driveway of a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post on Nov. 3.

Greensboro police charged Vander Cliff McCraw, 30, with first degree murder.

Capt. Janice Rogers said McCraw was arrested without incident Saturday night in Gastonia on a robbery charge. Greensboro police picked him up and served him with an arrest warrant for murder Monday.

McCraw is being held in the Guilford County jail without bond.

About 6 a.m. on Nov. 3, Greensboro police said a man was found inside a blue GMC pickup in the driveway of VFW Post 2087 at 2605 S. Elm-Eugene St. The man had been shot at the LandMark Inn at 2838 S. Elm Eugene St. and drove to the post.

Police identified the man as 43-year-old Bryon Robert Renwick of Greensboro.

Renwick was later pronounced dead at Moses Cone Hospital.

Police said Renwick's body was transported to the state medical examiner's officer for an autopsy, which is routine in homicide cases.

Greensboro police are still investigating the shooting.

Anyone with information about this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000 or the criminal investigation division at 373-2255.
