Bicyclist seriously injured after hitting car

GREENSBORO — A 52-year-old woman suffered serious injuries Sunday afternoon after her bicycle struck the side of an SUV.

Greensboro police said Susan Pannell, 52, was riding on the sidewalk along Pembroke Road when she hit the driver's cide of a Jeep Cherokee that had stopped at a stop sign to pull out onto Pembroke. The accident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday behind Romano's Macaroni Grill at 3120 Northline Ave. at Friendly Center.

Police said Pannell suffered unspecified life-threatening injuries. She is being treated at Moses Cone Hospital, which on Monday did not make public her condition at the request of her family.

Police did not identify the Jeep's driver. No citations have been issued.
