What: Guilford County Board of Education meeting

When: 6 p.m. Tuesday

Where: Boardroom of the Guilford County Schools administrative office, 712 N. Eugene St., Greensboro.

On TV: Guilford County school board meetings are broadcast live on GCS Cable Channel 2 with replays aired at 1 and 7 p.m. the next day and at 1 p.m. the Saturday after the meeting.

What’s going on? The school board is scheduled to discuss and review several issues including:

• A presentation concerning school safety. The presentation comes after an unofficial committee led by school board member Deena Hayes gave a report that shows gang activity in schools is minimal compared to other safety concerns.
• The school board will review options for the 2010-11 traditional school calendar. School would begin Aug. 25 under all four options but would end June 7, 9 or 10. One option provides seven days for winter break; others have eight.
