On the front page of today’s paper was the lead-in: “Rep. Foxx says health bill scarier than terrorism,” which led me to think that, perhaps, even more scary might just be — Virginia Foxx.

And until she can explain to the fools who elected her why she does NOT consider a space alien invasion from Krypton to be a priority, she has no credibility on any issue! November 7, 2009 - 7:15 am ESTWe can defeat the terrorists, IF we have solid leadership. As of right now, we do not. That can be fixed in 2012. But if the health care bill is passed, it will be next to impossible to undo it. If it is done right, all will be well. But if it isn't, if it, like so many other grand leftist plans, costs a lot more and does a lot less than promised, we're screwed. And Pelosi seems determined to vote on the bill before we have a chance to see what is in the final form. That fact alone leads me to believe that we're screwed, and that the Democrat leadership knows it. We're talking about huge amounts of money, government power, and lost liberties.

November 7, 2009 - 9:10 am ESTI believe our current unboosted economy is due more to the Democrats' plans for everyone to own a house than capital gains tax rates, but that's just me. Both Reagan and JFK realized that cutting tax rates usually produces more tax revenues for the government. Leftists fail to understand that changing tax rates changes behavior by taxpayers, which is folly. They assume that all they have to do to raise revenue is to raise tax rates. A fine example is the "luxury tax" on things like yachts, back in the 1970's. Theoretically, the government should have collected more revenue. But in reality, an unknown concept to Democrats, people quit buying yachts, the government collected less revenue, and those who built yachts were out of jobs. Typical leftist b.s.
How's that hope and change working for you? Personally, I haven't been too impressed.

Except that's not universally true. " ... changing tax rates changes behavior by taxpayers ... " yes, when you lower rates there is short term blip that "proves" the value of cutting taxes ... but it is only the taxpayers making an adjustment, and after that, it's less revenue for all and more for the few .. while the g-men continue to pver promise .. both R and D g-men.

There is a big difference between a "luxury tax" tax and [Can Be Tax Exempt] Capital Gains.

November 7, 2009 - 12:28 pm ESTI was watching the C-SPAN 2 coverage of the House Health Care Committee last night. To make a long story short, as a Rep. from Texas, (Republican), was asking why an amendment to the bill was being included, (jailing someone for failing to obtain health insurance), the Speaker of this committee, (D-NY) promptly stated that it was not their responsibility to go through the health care bill section by section. ???????? If it's not their responsibility, then who's?
I have never signed my name to something without completely reading it through. And, seeing as this bill is essentially a contract between the guvmint and the people of this country, these congressmen and women should not be signing their name to something that they haven't even read. They need to stop trying to push this through at the speed of light and actually READ the dam thing. Difficult concept, I know, but necessary.

Yea, I really like the reliability of Toyota .. and own two Camry’s (the #2 US Made vehicle) plus an 1995 Toyota p-up truck which is very practical and gets 27 mpg and still has the original clutch, but it'll need replacing soon. I also own a semi-rare Lexus that gets driven on Sundays.

Obama will be tested by the terrorists sooner or later. I would like to think that he's up to the challenge, but everything I've seen from him so far leads me to believe that he is not. I hope I'm wrong, but wouldn't bet anything on it.

I never saw this clip of Ms. Foxx until I heard about it on 'The Rachael Maddow Show' one night last week. At that time I knew she had spoken the truth. Don't know if the talking cockroach had opined on it or not, but my guess is that he did, seeing as how Maddow is a simple parrot who continues his rhetoric, stretching the talking cockroach's show to 2 hours.

However, I consider the current "Health Care Reform " proposals about some of the scarest things I've ever seen in my life.
The first need for America right now is to put people back to work. The current unemployment is 10.2% ( more likely double that). Yet DC 's first priorty is to cram more costly , unpopular bills through, not produce something to create jobs.. America needs jobs, then and only then, they can discuss other BS.

The Chinese are worried about our debt, i.e. their investment.
Meanwhile our govt. is figuring out ways to spend trillions more on health care and worse, Cap & Trade, money we don't have. Together these new regulations will force many businesses to throw their hands up and either close or move offshore.
CA govt. took it upon itself to withhold and extra 10% of income earners state taxes from their paychecks. Imagine that. Of course they say it will be paid back next year, a free loan. What will keep the Federal govt. from doing something similar?
Terrorists brought down some buildings in 2001 and the country unified and brought itself back, albeit for a short time. Our govt. on the other hand, is bringing this entire country down to the state of insolvency at a precipitous rate, but there are no burning buildings to help visualize what is going on. Therefore most people don't care. Rep. Foxx is correct, but will be chastised for speaking the truth.
