The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a freeze warning for Guilford and other counties in central North Carolina. It is in effect from 4 to 9 a.m.
A high pressure and light winds should drop overnight temperatures down into the low 30s by early Saturday. Temperatures will be slightly lower in rural areas and slightly higher in urban areas.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures that could kill sensitive vegetation are possible.
The warning area includes Guilford, Forsyth, Alamance, Davidson, Randolph and Montgomery counties in the Triad and Wake, Durham and surrounding counties in the Triangle.
