GREENSBORO — The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship said today that it is planning to move to the former Carolina Steel office building on South Elm Street.
Three local citizens have offered to donate the building, which includes 60,000 square feet, to be owned and used as a permanent home for the center.
"In addition to providing the much needed security of permanent quarters, the building could provide a better location on a busy thoroughfare and a more conducive layout for the needs of the center and its clients," according to a news release from the Nussbaum Center.
The center’s board has almost completed its due diligence on the building and its grounds. Prior to taking occupancy, the building will need renovation to bring it to current building codes and ADA compliance, as well as upfitting to meet basic business needs.
The cost to accomplish this is estimated to be $4 million with an immediate need of $2.5 million to renovate the building to “moveāin” condition.
The center staff and its board are currently undergoing a campaign to acquire the funding needed to accept the generous offer.
The center is currently located at 2007 Yanceyville St.
