WINSTON-SALEM — Two teenagers were arrested Thursday in connection with an armed robbery of a church cafeteria during the Wednesday night meal.
Winston-Salem police said the two men arrested had longtime patrons of the weekly meal provided by Salem Baptist Church. Police identified them as Joseph Lee Boles, 17 of 897 Salem Pointe Lane, and Benjamin Ephram Barrett, 18, of 932 Albert St. Both were charged with one count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Police said a man came into the church cafeteria at 400 S. Broad St. at about 6:38 p.m. The man had a black handgun and escaped on foot with a cash box. No one was hurt during the robbery.
An undisclosed amount of money was stolen, but police said they recovered most of it.
Boles' bond is $150,000. Barrett's bond is $75,000.
