Science Center visitor lauds bond’s passage

Congratulations, Greensboro, you have a good eye for community values. Last week, I was privileged to visit (in a wheelchair) the Greensboro Natural Science Center with a group from the Adams Farm Living and Rehab facility, viewing a wide variety of outdoor and indoor exhibits, not only professionally presented but largely accessible for the handicapped.
To end an all-too-short beautiful day, there was a sheltered pavilion to enjoy a picnic in a wooded area.

In my 84 years, I have seen the San Diego Zoo, the Bronx Zoo, the Hayden Planetarium and Museum of Natural History in New York City. I can share the pride that Gary Brown, Science Center board chairman, takes in the center’s ranking among the top 13 facilities in the nation accredited by the American Association of Museums (News & Record, Nov. 1).

Greensboro is getting full value for the Nov. 3 bond issue. Go out with the kids and see for yourself.

I, too, am happy to see the bond referendum pass. I am a member of the Science Center and my membership allows me to go to many other such museums. If you have a child or children, you really should look into membership. These Science Museums are a great way to spend a half day with your kids. In addition to the Greensboro museum you can easily go to the Winston-Salem and Durham museums which are considerably different that our Greensboro one. And with a membership, admission is free. These memberships are a great Christmas present for families. I am not associated with these museums other than a paying member like any other. I just want to pass on what a great deal membership is.

I can't afford to go to the NSC. I have to figure out some way to pay for the high taxes I have, due to all the bonds this city has to pay off.

Then use one of their free days. You whined and whined during the Science Center's campaign for the bond and you don't even know the facts. I am so happy the bond passed.
