GREENSBORO — The Guilford County Department of Public Health will hold an H1N1 flu vaccination clinic Saturday.

This clinic will be held in the Medlin Center at GTCC in Jamestown from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those eligible for the vaccine are children from 6 months to 18 years, college students and pregnant woman.

The county health department has nearly 6,000 doses of the vaccine. Shots will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The shots are free, but participants should bring insurance on Medicaid cards if they have them. College students should bring their college IDs.

The health department says those who are moderately to severely ill should wait until they recover to get the vaccine. Those with a mild cold or other illness should be able to get the vaccine.

No one should get the vaccine if allergic to eggs or to any other substance in the vaccine, have had Guillain Barré Syndrome or a life-threatening reaction following a flu vaccine.

For more information about this event, call 641-7777 or visit www.guilfordhealth.org and click on the H1N1 flu vaccine availability link.

The lines for these shots should give everyone a clue how things will be with the government health care option.

Dear Ebenezer "Decrease The Surplus Population" Scrooge, you know what? For your sake, I hope you don't contract H1N1. I'm just glad that they are offering shots to those who need them most.

You really gotta love willful ignorance. Fisher, the reason the H1N1 vaccine has been in short supply is the manufacturer has not been able to produce enough fast enough to meet the demand. They are shipping vaccine as soon as it comes off the production line.

True, private manufacturers were producing the vaccine... under government contracts following government regulations. Make this vaccine available on the open market without government interference and there would be plenty.

fisher apparently has no clue how vaccines are produced. to blame it on government ineptitude and government contract restrictions is absurd. it is a slow and delicate process. the fact that the government has been able to succeed in GETTING a vaccine this early is impressive.
