House health care bill will cost way too much

Friday, November 6, 2009
(Updated 3:00 am)

On Oct. 30, we heard the U.S. House of Representatives had passed H.R. 3200, its version of the proposed health care law. It is projected to cost $1.6 trillion over 10 years and be paid for with taxes on small businesses and a $145 billion  reduction in Medicare Advantage health plan procedures.

During a House committee hearing, President Obama’s chief economic adviser testified that it will also destroy 5.5 million jobs.

A plan that will cost more than World War II debt, reduce our senior citizens’ medical coverage by almost half and destroy 5.5 million jobs is not something we need.

There are other ways to provide medical care for the uninsured without passing on a debt that will be paid for by the next five generations.

Big claims and statistics seem to catch my ear. "During a House committee hearing, President Obama’s chief economic adviser testified that it will also destroy [millions of] jobs."

I mean ... would Romer really say that ... or something like it ... ?

Not the definiative word, but according to http://www.politifact.com

"Obama's Council of Economic Advisers has not said that. Rather, the number comes from calculations made by the Republican staff of the House Ways and Means Committee, based on ideas in two papers co-authored by Romer, who was an economist at the University of California, Berkeley, before joining the administration. ... House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio .. wrote ... the government takeover would cost Americans 4.7 million jobs over the next 10 years."

" ... (Complicating matters further, the Ways and Means Republican staff later issued a revised estimate, and the new number — as many as 5.5 million jobs lost — has begun to pop up as well, including in a national radio address by Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., on Sept. 5, 2009. "

I think folks say stuff just to get a rise. That the N-R doesn't vet simple things like this is a bad sign ... and to think the N-R is a LIEBURAL rag, according to the FoxCrowd.

True enough. The fact checking of letters is abysmal, and this is a case in point. There are trillions of excellent reasons to oppose Comrade Pelosi's Great Leap Forward into Socialized Medicine, but fictional tales aren't one of them.

Well now, Mr. Mack, your LTTE seems to be for "working the crowd," a la Virginia Foxx, who recently said Democratic health care reform legislation was more frightening to her than terrorists! Hmmmmmmm? (Also, RECENTLY, the American Cancer Society joined the AMA and the AARP in endorsing the House care reform bill!) So, Mr. Mack, a question for you: Do you live in the Rightwingnut-Republican-Wackadoodle-World? Seriously.

The AMA is comprised of only about 20% of all doctors. And of that 20%, many of them do not agree with the AMA's support of this socialized medical program.
The AARP is losing members left and right due to the organizations support of this government take over.
Some polls say as many as 70% of the American citizens are against this bill. But yet Pelosi, Reid and the Obama thugs are hell bent on having the government FORCE this on the American people, who do not want it.
Obama's economy is in the tank, his stimulus didn't stimulate, over 10% unemployment. We cannot afford a 1.3 trillion dollar boondoggle.

Wonder what happened to Pelosi, we will post this bill on the internet for 72 hours?
Rockhead, have you noticed the election ratings results.
Fox had more viewers than all the Obama networks combined?
Seems more folks are interested in more honest news.
You liberals hate it we have a news source that does not kiss Pelosi butt.
Fox News is there only news source that shows you both sides off a argument.
However what ticks you off most is that they have two real dogs (Hannity and Beck) rather than a kennel of lap dogs. Real dogs sells ads, and you grow! Check their ratings, Beck in a lousy time slot out draws all the Obama, Pelosi , Reid networks in the same time slot combined!
Lap dogs cut your business and you die!
Hint, Hint, Mr. Robinson.
Now I got to go out and feed some real dogs, sleep well last night, and more than likely did not lock the door!
Did not have to.
Hint, Hint Mr. Robinson, real dogs do their job!

5.5million jobs lost or 5.5 million jobs created is not the point.

Providing health care or health insurance is not a legitimate function of government. Arguing over jobs lost, jobs gained, money spent or money saved is white noise designed to provide cover for a creeping socialist state.

Those incapable of managing their lives and yearn to become wards of the state should be given the opportunity to create their own utopia in Connecticut or Mass. and leave the rest of us be.

I really do not disagree, Neo .. but the negatoiders should be honest ... The Tea Party Crowd should come out strongly against the gov'ment health care currently given to every employer and employee through the existing payroll / tax deductions.

"The Tea Party Crowd should come out strongly against the gov'ment health care currently given to every employer and employee through the existing payroll / tax deductions."

Could not agree more. I'll go one step further: abolish health 'insurance'...period, then we'll see true reform.

Those poor CONservative folks are just doing what they do best, lie. And they have no idea what they want except power. It is the one driving force, ahead of reason, truth and what is best for America. They whine all the time about smaller government but have no clue that the only way for the government to get smaller is for government folks to lose jobs. Pitiful.

"And they have no idea what they want except power."

Got it, the desire for power only applies to conservatives. That from the "pro-choice" crowd who ironically supports the govt. forcing people by govt. fiat and penalty to purchase health insurance.

As far as having to see people lose their jobs to have a smaller guvmint, I say " let's get to it".
With all the job loss in America, I can think of no one I'd rather see unemployed than large parts of a bloated guvmint.
