Private health coverage leaves terrible choices

Sunday, November 8, 2009
(Updated 3:00 am)

I have been with and without decent benefits, as have my college-educated and working grown children. I have a co-worker who has horrible insurance through work that is expensive, has a high deductible and only pays 60 percent of any real medical care or surgery expense. She makes $8 an hour. How can she survive like that?

We need a public option that people can use to survive and not have to choose to go bankrupt or die.

You really trust the government to fix this? On what do you base your trust?

Ms. Engler, help is on the way! Democrats will pass health care reform legislation (with a public option) as a Christmas gift to the nation this year! Seriously.

The money is coming from us.....We pay when they go to the emergency room, and now we are going to pay to insure them.......not much of a "Change".......so, tonight I will be holding a candle-light vigil for what this country used to be and for the death of our Constitution

Mr.ghost,
Do you love your health insurer? Do you like BC/BS having an almost monopoly here? Or, are you one of the people who listen to talk radio, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, et al and spout whatever they say? If you receive Medicare you are already on "Guvmint" healthcare and if you are not there yet, then tell us all about the wonderful healthcare you currently have. Please do tell!

Almost monopoly? I dumped BSBSNC this year for another plan. It was easy.

Ms. Engler, when congress comes up with a plan that REQUIRES each and every member of congress and their families to be covered with no supplemental insurance allowed, then and only then will I be in favor of a government plan. This do as I say, not as I do thinking is unacceptable. If a plan isn't good enough for them, then it's not good enough for the American people!
