As it should be

Regarding the Winston-Salem police officer who was charged recently with several crimes and subsequently terminated:

Winston-Salem police Chief Scott Cunningham stated, in part, “We absolutely will not tolerate a breach of the public trust by our personnel. We take the integrity of our department very seriously, and we want our citizens to know this.”
What a refreshing concept.

I am a retired officer from the Greensboro Police Department. Somewhere we have gone terribly wrong and have started letting any rules violation be forgiven no matter how severe, especially at the manager level. I can't beleive what the city management has done to a place that I was so proud to say I once served. It is not only the PD but all other departments from what I have read in the paper.

Chief Cunningham would you be interested in the job of Greensboro Chief of Police since Bellamy is retiring? We could sure use someone who does not tolerate bad behavior and forgiveness of bad behavior. Even if the chief sees fit to fire someone, our interim city manager overrules him and reinstates the officer. Hopefully our new city manager will see things differently.
