GREENSBORO — Three Moses Cone Hospital employees, whose names have not been released, resigned after failing to take a mandatory seasonal flu shot by the Oct. 31 deadline.

The Moses Cone Health System required all employees to receive the vaccine in September, marking the first time the system required the vaccine.

Hospital spokesman Doug Allred said more than 8,000 seasonal flu vaccines were given to employees and volunteers.

Allred said employees take vaccinations for other illnesses, including the measles and mumps.

The hospital system also requires employees to get the H1N1 flu shot.
