The ACC has honored a pair of Coastal Division quarterbacks who led their teams to come-from-behind victories.
The ACC on Monday named Duke's Thaddeus Lewis and Miami's Jacory Harris as its co-offensive backs of the week.
They were joined by Duke kicker Will Snyderwine and receiver Conner Vernon, Florida State guard Rodney Hudson, North Carolina defensive tackle Tydreke Powell and Boston College defensive back Luke Kuechly.
Lewis threw the go-ahead 42-yard scoring pass to Vernon with 3:45 to play in the Blue Devils' 28-17 win at Virginia.
Harris' third touchdown pass of the day came with 1:08 remaining and helped the Hurricanes rally past Wake Forest 28-27.
GREENSBORO: Jerry Bates, a sophomore defensive back, was namef the Big South defensive player of the week. Bates had four total tackles and one interception in a 26-12 win over USA South foe Maryville.
GUILFORD COLLEGE: Richie Paul is the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's defensive football player of the week.
ELON: Kicker Adam Shreiner is thre SoCon special teams player of the week. He made two field goals and four PATs in Elon's 34-6 win at Wofford. Antwan Thorpe is offensive rookie of the week.
APPALACHIAN STATE: Armanti Edwards was named the SoCon offensive player of the week. Edwards had fourth-highest single-game total offensive yardage output in school history 461 yards) despite sitting out fourth quarter in Appalachian State's 52-27 win at Furman.
FLORIDA STATE: Christian Ponder says his bruised ribs aren't bothering him and that he plans to resume throwing at practice.
Ponder, who ranks third nationally in total offense per game, suffered the latest rib injury early in Saturday's 45-42 win over N.C. State. He put on some extra padding to protect the injured ribs.
Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher said that Ponder played the second half of 2008 with two cracked ribs.
FLORIDA: The Top-ranked Gators will be without linebacker Brandon Spikes for the first half Saturday against Vanderbilt.
Coach Urban Meyer suspended the Shelby native two days after the defensive captain apparently attempted to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey in a 41-17 win.
"I don't condone that," Meyer said. "I understand what goes on on the football (field), but there's no place for that."
SYRACUSE: Mike Williams, the Big East's leading receiver, quit the team. He had 49 catches for 746 yards and six touchdowns.
"He walked up to me and voluntarily took himself off the team. That's it," coach Doug Marrone said. "I'm not going to discuss the conversation from my end."
