Stop wearing blinders; climate change is real

Tuesday, November 3, 2009
(Updated 3:05 am)

On Oct. 22, the News & Record published a full-page ad by EnergyCitizens.org warning readers that they will be paying $4 a gallon for gas if Congress passes the climate bill. Ironically, I think we will be lucky if gas only goes to $4 in the future.

The days of affordable gas for fuel-guzzling Americans is going to end sooner or later. In Europe, gas is already well over $4. There are limited petroleum reserves and the ones that are left are getting more difficult to access and process.

The price of gas is going to go up whether we pass legislation to reduce carbon emissions that pollute our air or not. Voting against the climate bill will not prevent this.

However, voting against this bill will send a message to the world that Americans are unwilling to curb their own shortsighted self-interests and join other nations in working to secure the future health of our planet.

How silly - climate change, in the form of global warming, has been ongoing since the end of the last ice age -

When I coast out of my driveway, I am ongoing. At some point however, I step on the gas and things occur more quickly.

That's what Lowell Ponte was saying back in 1978. Of course, he was screaming that if we didn't all do what he said, the world would soon be a huge frozen snowball. I guess his throttle linkage broke. But Al Gore is SO much smarter than Ponte, right?

The ice cap melt on Mount Kilamanjaro is stunning, as witnessed by pictures released late last week. Of course, with some, evidence be damned!

TheSeeker

The average global temp has not risen in ten years. This whole scam was created to make money for AL GORE and his ilk. Oh yea, i have carbon credits i'd like to sell.

No more stunning than the Wisconsin Glaciation, for instance, which once covered large parts of what was later to be known as Kentucky and Ohio. It's all gone, where once was hundreds of feet of ice as far as the eye could see in all directions, all gone. Dinosaurs are gone. Mastadons are gone. Some day we will all be gone, as the planet becomes uninhabitable, even if Cheryl Crowe uses no toilet paper as she flies around in her private jet. Crowe and Al Gore, flying private jets and SUV convoys, lecturing the peons about leaving the bedroom light on. Or, even worse, having the "wrong" light bulbs. My God, you people are a pain in the arse.

Most scientists point to sublimation as the cause of the ice falls, as opposed to the sophomoric climate change hogwash.
BTW, how's that hope and change thing working out for you people?

" ... the sophomoric climate change hogwash ... "

.. that's what I'm taking about, Sawdust.

Yes, but they have 'free' healthkaya there...

We're 3 months into global Emir (and 'bama puppet master) Ban ki-Moon's 4 month deadline to 'act'. Have you sold all your stock yet?

Hey, that means I don't have to do any Christmas shopping this year.

Excuse me, "holiday" shopping.

Mr. neocon,
Can you possibly look at an issue, one issue, and remove your partisan idealogy from said issue? We all know your schtick but can you provide any backup for your myopic statements?

"Can you possibly look at an issue, one issue, and remove your partisan idealogy"

This coming for a guy whose post name is "rightwingnemesis". You are way more partisan in you ranks than neocon is.

Can you say HYPOCRITE?

I think he was just pointing out the lack of backup for the global warming nutjobs. The man said we had only 4 months, the man is a raving loon. Who has the partisan ideology?

What "myopic statement" are you referring to, Einstein?

is it not the taxes on that gas that helps pay for the "free" health care. Like Lemmings getting closer to the edge they just keep going forward.

come on, Francine, we have it from the highest and hughest:

"Despite the hysterics of a few pseudo-scientists, there is no reason to believe in global warming" - page 171,

... of course now it's "there is no reason to believe in Anthropomorphic global warming"

Sawdust

I've always wondered how the AGW loons think they can tell the manmade stuff from the climate change that has been going on since the planet first had a climate. Wait, don't tell me--I know: they can't, and if they say they can they are lying. Just like those who say they have read and understood any of the various monstrisities coming out of the health care debate.

J D R

November 3, 2009 - 6:26 pm EST

Call it whatever Loons you choose, Sawdust .. I make a personal observation that those once emphatic about "no reason to believe in global warming" quietly changed to "no reason to believe in Anthropomorphic global warming"

Sawdust

November 3, 2009 - 9:34 pm EST

And those who believed in global warming quietly turned to a belief in "climate change", back about the time the temps started dropping. I even remember one fool trying to convince Rush that global warming was responsible for some record low temperatures we were suffering at the time. There's not enough evidence for any global warming, manmade or otherwise. Some places get warmer for a few years, others get cooler. Been going on for billions of years. I guess the AGW dolts never heard of the numerous Ice Ages.

November 14, 2008 - Washington Times

"US Military Worried About Climate Change

" ... U.S. military planners have discussed the impact on personnel, equipment and installations of extreme weather events, rising ocean temperatures, shifts in rainfall patterns and stresses on natural resources.

"Among the concerns: 63 U.S. coastal military facilities and several nuclear reactors are in danger of flooding from storm surges ...

"The Center for Naval Analyses (CNA), a Pentagon-funded think tank, issued a report last year that called climate change a "serious national security threat."

" ... a Pentagon official told The Washington Times that the Pentagon has commissioned a network of scientists ..."

"Perhaps the most dramatic climate-related geopolitical issues involve a melting of the Arctic ice cap ... this year that the area covered by sea ice shrank by more than 1 million square miles during summer 2007, reducing the size of the Arctic ice cap to half of what it was in 1958.

"Nations bordering the Arctic, including Canada and Russia, are staking claim to the region's oil and fishing resources, while commercial ships are seeking new Arctic routes that could shift the dynamics of global trade.

"This is not just a foreign policy issue," said Gen. Farrell. "It is a national security issue."

"The global warming myth, is just another incremental step to bringing America down to the rest of the world in [The US Military's] effort to bring about the One-World-Government. [The US Military] want[s] to destroy the economic base of the United States in an effort to break the American people. [The US Military's] desire is to bring about world wide socialism."
