Protect animal habitat in Haw development

Tuesday, November 3, 2009
(Updated 3:05 am)

The North Carolina Wildlife Habitat Foundation holds a 35-acre wetland conservation easement on the Haw River that joins the New River State Park just east of Church Street.

We consider ourselves partners with the park and our purpose is to protect wildlife habitat. However, we are concerned that creating an excessive amount of human habitat might reduce the amount of wildlife habitat and displace a substantial amount of the wildlife in that area.

Hopefully, a major objective of the park plan would be to protect the wildlife habitat and allow every species now present to comfortably reside there after the master plan is complete.
