After a closed session Monday night to discuss purchase of property, the High Point City Council asked staff to negotiate the purchase of 50 acres for a park.
City Manager Strib Boynton said the property is located north of Burton Avenue, behind Cornerstone Health Care and North State Communication’s headquarters.
Assistant City Manager Pat Pate said the property consists of three tracts — one owned by the McGinnis family and two owned by LSB Properties.
Pate said the property would be used for a passive recreation park. There are no plans to develop the park in the near future.
The council also discussed economic development in closed session, but didn’t take action.
