Chamber ads on health reform disingenuous

Tuesday, November 3, 2009
(Updated 3:05 am)

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is running TV ads saying that current health care reform includes more than $300 billion in new taxes and the Congressional Budget Office says you’re going to pay for it. Sounds believable — heck, I almost believed it myself. But let’s look at the facts.

The CBO says the Senate Finance Committee reform bill will cost $829 billion over 10 years and will lower the deficit by $81 billion over those years. It achieves the goal of covering more people and lowering cost. And it certainly does not create “government control over your health,” another Chamber scare tactic. The Chamber on this issue, like many critics is, well, dishonest.

Oddly, the Chamber is fighting health care reform even though most of its members are small businesses struggling to cover their employees and could do so more easily with reform. And think about it: When did the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ever fight for health care reform?

Now they disingenuously say, “Let’s have real reform”  — as if we should believe anything they say about health care reform.

"It achieves the goal of covering more people and lowering cost."

If you believe this, you are delusional.

Wall Street Journal, worst piece of legislation ever written.
Notice how well the government is running the swine flu vaccine program?
Did you see what happened in California?
And you want to turn all health care over to them!

Somehow...somewhere, if one digs deep and wide enough, I'm sure one will find behind the evil misleading ads put out by the Chamber of Commerce, the fingerprints of George W. Bush.

There is no other rational explanation for anyone not wanting to hop aboard the Stalingrad express bound for Zero's Utopia.

I want some of whatever Gary is smoking -
Looks as if he actually believes that a gubmint committee (composed of Senators, no less) is going to do something (anything) to reduce the deficit by more than eight billion a year for the next ten years -

"reduce the deficit "

Bill ( Clinton ) did.

Remember?

"The CBO says the Senate Finance Committee reform bill will cost $829 billion over 10 years and will lower the deficit by $81 billion over those years."

Which bill, Baucus? Now we have the Pelosi bill, hell there's a new one every week.

Already been said, but anyone who truly believes the Fed. govt. is capable of controlling the health care system, covering more people and saving money is delusional.

There will be those on these pages who avidly support the passage of the 1,990 page bill presented by Pelosi, and charge anyone who opposes it with being greedy any uncaring. How could anyone possibly disapprove of health care reform?

I have a question for them: How could you possibly support it, when you don't know what's in it, and when the Congress is doing everything in its power to keep you from knowing what's in it? Several Democrats have said that they have no intention of trying to read and understand it before voting on it, knowing that understanding it is a lost cause. And the Democrats have defeated several moves to get the thing in front of the voters to give us a chance to see what's coming.

Neal Boortz said yesterday that the Pelosi bill had a provision for the feds to cut payment to any state that put a limit on malpractice payouts. I don't know if that's true or not, can't find the bill. Has anyone on this site seen it? Where?

This is a lot of money and a lot of government power (loss of liberty) we're talking about here, folks. I think we need to know exactly what's in any reform bill before they vote on it. But the Democrats are dead set against any chance of that.

Dan

All you see is balancing a fictious set of books.
That appears to be how you measure success
Thats how you measure everything.

However I bet without a calculator you can't do single digit arithmetic.

Fractions and common denominators are probably beyond you.

Am I right?

I love it when the left try to sweet talk you into their point of view.

Balancing books not important David? Don't know about you but the only debt we have is manageable debt, one mortgage and one car payment.

I certainly do not measure unsustainable debt as success, do you? More people are beginning to worry about the US debt including the Chinese.

As for the rest of your petty insults, I thought you were above that. My bad.

"Balancing books not important David? "

I never said that Dan.

Look Dan what am I to think.

You are a guy that won't use his name.

A consultant that won't say what he consults on

A professed moralistic conservative ( family values and all ) who has been
divorced ( you said not me ).

Educated in Europe ( obviously by the Socialists and Marxists professors).

Perhaps you are a plant to throw us Americans off.

"Balancing books not important David? "

"I never said that Dan."

Yes you did, refer to your previous post. So you have no concern over the US deficits and debt?

"Look Dan what am I to think."

I dunno, tell me.

"You are a guy that won't use his name."

True, many others do not either, why do you always mention that specific to me? I've told you the reason I don't use my real name, there are a few unstable folks on this blog and I don't prefer any attempts at personal contact.

"A consultant that won't say what he consults on."

So what? Why do you feel it's your business to know what I do for a living?

"A professed moralistic conservative ( family values and all ) who has been
divorced ( you said not me )."

Since you are a relative newbie here, my ex-wife had an affair, left me for the other guy, and filed for divorce. I didn't have much choice in the matter. Capiche?

"Educated in Europe ( obviously by the Socialists and Marxists professors)."

For one year yes. I was more liberal as a college student until I spent a year living under socialism.

"Perhaps you are a plant to throw us Americans off."

You finally guessed it.

Good job leaving off the insults in this post.

As I said Dan.

It's the fact that you are always so sure.

The rest of us are simply wrong.

Trying to establish your credibility.

Just try to answer a question instead of supplying insinuations. Do you have no concern over the US deficits and debt?

NO

danagain

November 3, 2009 - 12:35 pm EST

Thanks for your honesty. I forgot, you are old so it won't effect you.

The debt is fast approaching $12 trillion.

Read your question and my answer again.

Carefully

What did you major in at college?

danagain

November 3, 2009 - 2:28 pm EST

Well good you do have concern, sorry I misread it, didn't go to college, dropped out of 4th grade. So what is your concern about it?

dcolin

November 3, 2009 - 3:07 pm EST

Dan

It is far more complicated than numbers in a ledger.
It's about quality of life for our country.

If the results are positive on peoples lives we will be more willing to pay and thus
cover the possible short fall.

danagain

November 3, 2009 - 4:03 pm EST

The possible short fall? Are you kidding? It's almost $12 trillion dollars!! Would you please 'splain the quality of life yet to be born generations will have in repaying this debt?

Your own question?

Come on Dan

dcolin

November 3, 2009 - 9:28 pm EST

Insinuations.

Your embarassed about yourself.

Name?
Occupation/expertise?
Education?

Opinions are cheap.
Whats behind them
Answer the questions.

You are sure about everything except those three questions

You can leave out the name.

danagain

November 3, 2009 - 9:49 pm EST

"Name?
Occupation/expertise?
Education?"

I can leave out anything I want thanks. As mentioned to Neo, you seem to have some obsession with who I am, what I studied, and what I do. Frankly it doesn't matter, let's just pretend I dropped out of 4th grade.

If you are so concerned with names, ask truman, aka zeus80, aka xeon20 or whatever his name will be next week who he is and his lack of education.

November 3, 2009 - 10:00 pm EST

Are you asking them?

I don't multi task. I'm focusing on you.

I bet you dropped out of college.

Nothing wrong with that.
So did Bill Gates

danagain

"Are you asking them?"

I could care less what someone uses as their name. Don't know why you do.

"I don't multi task"

Some older folks don't, but my dad does quite well at 81 years of age.

"I'm focusing on you."

Tell me about it dude, your obsession isn't healthy. Ask the Mrs. if she is there.

I bet you dropped out of college."

Already told you I dropped out of 4th grade, then I spent some years making money and then graduated from UNC-CH.
