Greensboro's John Isner and doubles partner Jordan Kerr of Australia continued their march through the field with a 6-3, 7-6 (7) victory over Andreas Seppi and Simone Vagnozzi in the quarterfinals of the doubles portion of the BA Trophy in Vienna on Thursday.
In other action, Marin Cilic and Gael Monfils toughed out second-round victories in singles matches.
'HE LIED': Martina Navratilova drew a parallel between Andre Agassi and Roger Clemens, saying she's shocked the eight-time Grand Slam champion lied about drug use. Agassi's upcoming autobiography contains an admission he used crystal meth in 1997 and failed a drug test -- a result he says was thrown out after he lied by saying he "unwittingly" took the substance.
"Shocking," Navratilova said. "Not as much shock that he did it as shock he lied about it and didn't own up to it. He's up there with Roger Clemens, as far as I'm concerned. He owned up to it (in the book), but it doesn't help now."
CYCLING
UCI HITS BACK: The International Cycling Union has rebuffed claims by France's anti-doping agency of lapses and favoritism in drug testing at this year's Tour de France. The UCI's report singles out agency president Pierre Bordry for particular criticism, calling him "mischievous and misinformed."
It also says that the Astana team of seven-time champion Lance Armstrong was tested more than others, countering the French agency's allegations that the American received preferential treatment.
The UCI says Astana riders were subjected to 81 doping tests, or more than 10 percent of the total conducted for the three-week race.
