Man wounded in Winston-Salem home invasion

WINSTON-SALEM — A 32-year-old man was shot during a home invasion this morning.

Winston-Salem police said the wound suffered by Durreill Simington is not life-threatening. He was shot once in the upper back and is being treated at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Police said Simington's wife and 12-year-old child were home when the incident occurred but were not hurt. Police did not identify them.

The incident happened at 4:40 a.m. Friday when four or five men kicked open the front door at 280 Vista Court. Police had no descriptions of the men, who ran toward Shattalon Drive, and did not say if anything was stolen.
